Exciting times for me at the moment. I’ve got a collection of 5 of my paintings in The Glasshouse Cafe which is part of The Palace Gardener garden centre in Fulham. The guys that run the Cafe, Joe and Eddie like the #fingerpaintings so much that they want them to hang indefinitely! It’s such a HUGE compliment. I’m hoping that people will really start to notice my work and begin looking into the #saskiaskoric brand.
Finger painting as I’ve said before, is something I truly love and get the most satisfaction from. The acrylic paint brush painting I used to do, would frustrate me (this sometimes happens with finger painting but only because I’m impatient when learning) and I felt like I’d got to a point that I would struggle to improve. I needed a different outlet. I’ve always loved other people’s painting that were heavily textured in oils. I’d never really thought I’d be any good at creating a look with thick layers of luscious oils! However, I really do feel that I’m achieving my goals, and with each painting on a particular subject, I’m improving, having learned from the last.
The paintings really do need to be viewed properly, a photograph is a good alternative but it really doesn’t compare to seeing the actual painting in person. So my goal for now is to gather a collection of paintings together, and show them in an exhibition! I would also like to find a gallery to represent me, you never know, stranger things have happened.
The other thing I’m working on is filming! Time-lapse videos and posting them on YouTube. I’ve got about 5 on there now. I’m easy to find, just type in Saskia Skoric and all the videos will pop up. You’ll have to pardon the music, there wasn’t much I could choose from. The latest one is Wild FLOWERS. It’s 33×23 inches which is the equivalent to A1. It’s a nice size, a size I like to paint as it’s a good size for most wall spaces.
So, tomorrow, I shall be continuing with my latest painting, Turquoise SKY, which is 24 x 24 inches and very colourful, of course it’s another #fingerpainting to add to my #saskiaskoric collection. I’m filming this one too. I shall do a short live video for Facebook and Instagram too! It’s all a go go! See you on the other side.
